I just hammered a screwdriver into the wall around a set of old rawlplugs in the wall, then dug 'em out with a pair of needlenose pliers.
It made me feel cheap n' nasty.
And i liked it.

Still, job done, fill in holes with polycell and no one will ever know, right?

No need to pull out old plugs.

Just tap them down below the surface and fill over them.

Wise DIYers install them just below the surface from the start, to reduce surface cracking.

Whenever possible, I just use the head of a screw to hammer the plug collar just below the surface.

It doesn't give me any kind of sexual gratification, but it only takes seconds.

That's why - you need to take your time!

I can often drive a screw into the plug a few millimetres then pull the screw and plug out together with a pair of nippers and a scrap of wood (to protect the plasterwork)

Wise professionals, aim to punch them all the way into the brick, which results in an even firmer fixing, and no plaster blown out.

If they're at plaster level I just stab and grab with needle nose pliers, easifill, light sand, paint.
