SD cards

i have just purchased a new 2Gb hd card, and want to put some pics on it for a digi picture frame thing. Problem is, when i drag a photo to the hd card i get the message saying "The disk is write-protected".
It doesn't matter which way the little tab is on the card.... has anyone got any ideas what i'm doing wrong?

Does it require formatting? Do you have an older card reader? Broken card?

is there a little slider on the side of the card if so click it the opposite way and see what happens.

the same thing happens to three cards in total. One new one, and two that have been ok transferring file upto now. And as i mentioned, it doesn't matter which way the slider thing is.
