Sealant colour for sheet vinyl flooring

Hi,

I've just had some sheet vinyl put in my kitchen and downstairs toilet. I can't decide what colour sealant I should be using eg. around the toilet base and kitchen cupboards.

Someone said it needs to be clear as any ocolour would look naff. The floor is silver / grey and the cupboards, skirting etc is white. I know a lot of people use white in bathrooms but I guess that might look a bit clinical in the kitchen.

Are they right?

Either match to floor or skirting , so white or silver.
