We've moved into a new home and the (Beaumont) concealed shower mixer casing doesn't seem to have any sealant around the casing where it sits on the tiles.

Am I right in thinking in should really have sealant around it (clear or translucent bathroom type) so that no water gets in behind the unit?

In my old flat we did put a thin bead around that mixer

Just wanted to make sure in case there was something unique about this particular brand/model. The rest of the plumbing in and around the shower is good so not sure why they didn't do this job

Help appreciated

Thanks
Tony

Some models have a metal plate that slides on to the valve control and incorporate a rubber seal, but generally, and even with these, a neat bead of silicon around the interface with the tiles is always a good idea.
