Hi, am a newbie here and also a newbie when it comes to DIY, so please forgive what may be a silly question!

Our house has a small upstairs landing floor which is hardboarded ( a bit grubby, unfortunately, porous side upwards ). Could I just seal it somehow and then put on some sort of heavy-duty floor paint?

Thanks for any advice and recommendations :)

You may have problems with ordinary floor paint..its normally very hard and not very flexible..

why do you want to paint the floors anyway?

Thanks for your reply. Haven`t the money for carpet, and rather hoped a white painted floor would look neat and bright instead of the manky old hardboard ...

What about varnish...that might look to bad..a dark stain.

Thank you for your idea there, Zampa. I thought of a white painted floor as the landing is dark and gloomy!

I wonder if ya could prime then undercoat with acrylic based.

Then fill gaps with white flexible caulk.

Then coat over all above with an Clear Coat Laquer (water-based) !

What ya think Zampa ?

Yep good idea..that might work..and less smell

Id check first..make sure you can paint it onto wood..it may not be flexible enough to cope.

Apparently it can Zampa.

According to there pdf............but ya never realy know until ya try it !

Did you know Leyland have got a new one coat paint range out

Its called 'Twice' !

It might work though..maybe it will need thinning though...

Whats a PDF file..you mean like gary glitter?

I know, i do agree that Leyland One-coat Gloss is a terrible product indeed.

Maybe thats what Leyland mean ! You will use it only "ONCE", hehe.
