Hi All

Recently got a new house with the bonus of a wood frame workshop. Its pretty well constructed from what I can see. The walls are currently OSB on the inside with a layer of fiber glass insulatio (around 5cm, then a membrane followed by the external shiplap. I think it was used as a wood workshop but I'd llike to convert it to an office/small music studio and want to increase its insulation, both for heat and sound. Unfortuenetly stripping back to the frame and rebuilding would be tricky owing to the proximity to a greenhouse and garage but instead I was wondering if I can just build an extra stud wall internally. So stud on the existing OSB, then a layer of insuation (rockwool?) then 6mm MDf or ply (assume I don't need another membrane?).

Does this sound sensible? Anything I'm missing? Suggestions?

Big thanks in Advance

Far better with rigid (PIR), just place on the walls and screw your boards through with long thin screws - either into the existing studs, or carefully into the OSB. It's performance by depth is far better and it's continuous rather than bits with timber between. You can tape the joints with foil tape to provide a secondary vapour barrier.
