Seeing faces

Called Pareidolia, it is common for folk to see faces in inanimate objects, shapes in clouds etc...

Some say it is a sign of autism. I have been doing this for as long as I can remember!

My memorable ones (can't find the photo's, sadly) are a face (in Marmite) on the bottom of a Marmite jar lid, and when my (then) toddler son peed a rabbit (see what I did there??) shape on the carpet.

This is my latest: a sad-looking moon made of dried beetroot soup on a plate.

It is a sign of creative thinking and / or creative interpretation.

Nothing so relaxing as laying on a hillside, looking at the light clouds and seeing all manner of things. Another good one is tree branches if caught at the right angle.
We used to have a tree stump in the garden whose bark was peeling. It had a perfect replica of an owl face in it and we had a barn owl who would come and perch on the stump occasionally. The bark eventually fell off and broke, strangely 'Barney' the owl has also stopped visiting.

From time to time, I use microscopes at work.
I did once see Albert Einstein's face in a speck of dust.
I'll dig the photo out, when I'm next in the office.

The brain tries to make sense of everything we see , or think we see. Not a sign of autism, quite the opposite.

I had a bumper day today. Found face in wood that was delivered.
Then opened some poppadums for the boys' curry.

Talking of cartoons, the wood guy looks like Stewie...
