however, there are massive lorry queues for trucks heading to Tunnel on both sides -I cant think why and the cameras do seem to be off

and why is it not being reported widely?

Temporary traffic lights on the mini-roundabout outside college failed today. They were 4 way roadworks lights as they are re-doing the whole intersection. It was absolute carnage with cars just trying to use the junction as normal. Problem was, 3 of the roads were down to single lane passage for around 300 yards so, if you turned into one of these lanes and there was traffic already coming from the opposite direction, you were stuffed. Especially if other traffic had followed close behind you. It quickly became grid-locked with drivers refusing/unable to reverse. After having my fag break I left them to it and went back in to work. Don't know how they sorted it but it was clear with the lights working again when I left at 6pm

Is this a Brexit benefit - fewer lorries on the roads?

Another Breixt benefit is all the talk/claims/suggestions of FEXIT, ITEXIT, GREXIT, ??Exit, etc have been well dispelled.
Even prominent Brexiteers on here have given up on those claims.

I used to work for National Highways (formerly Highways England), I now work for their largest "Area Team". We do not block access to any cameras unless there are images that would cause upset or harm and by that, I mean deceased persons etc. We most definitely would not block any camera showing heavy traffic, whatever caused it, but all cameras will block the image available to the public if they are "zoomed in" by a large degree by an operator. We are not subject to anything political.
The issue with a lot of the cameras are that they are analogue and no parts or service items can be obtained for them. There are upgrades ongoing but it normally means projects covering whole stretches of motorway to upgrade to newer digital cameras and infrastructure to support them.
The camera at 106/3 is now working again and showing short queues however and both "MIDAS" and 3rd party heat maps are show little traffic, although that is to be expected for a Saturday......

It does seem unlikely that one ferry being overhauled would create the kind of tailbacks seen.
It is the busiest route, and I would have thought that a pre-planned overhaul would be catered for by re-routing a ferry from a quieter route.

But I am quoting the BBC, and as we all know the BBC is biased.
