Hi

i am looking to put down 100 m 2 of the above mentioned vinyl wood look planks.

This will be over pine floorboards installed in 2001, so quite level apart from 1 small area they seem to have twisted.

Will 6mm ply be ok as will need quite a lot and trying to keep costs down.
Also i plan to screw it down.

Any alternatives to ply or cheap suppliers you can recommend.

Regards
Andy

http://www.gerflor.co.uk/floorcovering/self-adhesive-tile.htm

they seem to invite technical questions towards the bottom of the page......

I didn't do much more than google "gerflor self adhesive tiles"...............

I am not experienced in this particular product but it appears to be an "LVT" type product,
If so then YES 6mm is correct - NOT chipboard,
You may also be strongly advised to ignore the self adhesive "selling point" and use adhesive if you wish your floor to last and actually stay stuck down!!!

In my experience the self adhesive products are very unpredictable as to whether they stay down

thanks for reply, why do you say no to chipboard.

is it not reliable. i am looking at over £ 700 for plywood.

will 6mm be think enough.

Cheers

Well speak to Gerflor first, but.............

as I say your product appears to be an LVT = luxury vinyl tile = amtico/karndean etc, albeit with an adhesive tape applied.
As I said I am not familiar with this one, so please seek advice then pop back.........

Chipboard is too unstable. It also contains waxes etc that will impede adhesive strength and can also react with the product.

Also make sure you are using the correct type of plywood. i would recommend 'Hanson plywood SP101'.
