Self Cutting Tap - CH

Hi All

What are peoples feelings on using self cutting taps on a combi/pressureized central heating system in order to add a radiator to some pipe work where the stalks that have been left are minimal in length & the floor is tiled so cannot be taken up easily....

how do you intend on fitting a rad using self cutting taps ?

I was going to fit the self cutting value & then use a tap to 15mm connection to run the pipework I need.

The only other method I was think of using was the pipe freezing kits but I only have approx. 6" of pipe tp play with?

what are you teeing off from a rad to supply another rad ?

Not from another rad no; there are two old radiator stalks that have been cut back close to the floor. The previous owners removed the rad to install a big american style fridge/freezer but I want to utilise the stalks to get a rad back. I want to run a short lenth of pipe to locate the rad approx 2 - 3 feet from where these stalks come up from the floor.

6" is enough to solder 2 new supplies to.
or even compression fittings.

This would obviously involve draining the system though which is what I wanted to avoid if at all possible.
