sensor for glassbreak in skylight

Point to point beams Bernard, what are you on?
A budget that does not create conflict between cost and performance.
Here is the device made for this job, goes off BEFORE entry.

I assume this is a vibration sensor and that the integral lens is for the LED indicator and not a PIR sensor lens.

If the device is moved slowly as could happen if the sky light was lifted up would this trigger an alarm. Also would it false alarm when heavy rain was falling on the sky light.

Did you not read the brochure and my post on an engineer's view of how they work and they do.

............ one of the vipers includes a normal magnetic door contact.

I did read the brochure as in the link. No mention of the type of vibration ( frequencies and amplitude ) that the device is going to react to. So no indication ithey will alarm if moved slowly wthout the cable being cut or snapped. No indication in the brochure if vibration from rain hitting the horizontal surface of the glass would be ignored by the sensor.

I cannot find you post of how they work.

It may not have been a Viper but a "glass break" detector did give false alarms when heavy rain and strong winds battered windows, no glass broke just a lot of noise and vibration that triggered the sensors fitted to the windows.

An audible Break Glass Det if setup incorrectly will activate at sounds from outside the protected premises.

Milk bottles, beer bottles etc being smashed, car accident.

As regards a detector being activated by the examples you gave, quite possible.

With a viper, no.

Looked at #15 and cannot see any mention of a report, just the link to the brochure which give little information.

The mention of the calibration tool and the instruction not to use said tool on glass does make the means of sensing an intruder interesting.
