Hello, we live in a 1970's Semi Detached Property and have a serious mold issue that has be on-going for many years now. There is no mold anywhere else in the house except for the master bedroom where alot of mold has formed on the windows and ceiling, damp has also caused the wall paper to peel around the windows. The heating is always on the in the winter months and this room is always kept a suitable tempreture. The room used to have an air vent leading to the outside but was removed a long time ago. All of our neighbours dont have any mold or damp in their bedrooms as we live on a housing estate where all properties are the same. The master bedroom is also located next to the bedroom and is at the rear of the property, thank you. I have also attached some pictures down below.

My guess is that at night when you have the curtains shut, you create a semi sealed space which gets colder than the rest of the room but vapour builds up and condenses on the cold surface.

You probably have the central heating off overnight so the room air cools too.

You could buy a 40w tube heater and have that on overnight on the windowboard.

I doubt that ventilation will help, it’s likely that will make the space behind the curtain even colder which may not be overcome by the benefit of ventilation removing some of the humid air.

How old is the glazing in the windows - if it’s fairly old, it might be worth changing it - the latest double glazing would be soft coat low emissivity coating, argon gas fill, warm edge spacer bar, which will give you a centre pane u value of about 1.2.

Judging by the mould on the reveals, they are getting pretty cold, maybe the plaster is touching the external brickwork or just transferring cold from the window frame. Either way there’s a thermal bridge. The solution is to insulate the reveals - you could try insulated wallpaper like wallrock thermal liner, although the proper way would be hack off the plaster and insulate then plasterboard.
