I've got a Service washing machine which is about 2 years old. Our electricity has been tripping and we've now tracked it down to our washing machine. It's tending to trip when the spin gets up to speed. Is it likely to be just time for new brushes in the motor, or something more serious?

Check the brushes first but there could be shorted turns in the motor armature causing sparking at high revs.
