I have moved into my new build which has underfloor heating through out the ground floor. The system takes a while to heat up, over 4 hours for a small loop in a ground floor toilet (3.6 sqm) which I think is not normal.
Before calling a UFH specialist I wanted to have a go myself running some troubleshooting steps. I plan on doing the below after looking at some youtube videos. Is anyone able to give advice on whether this is a good start to see if it resolves the issue or if there is anything more I should be doing?
The UFH system:
- vaillant ecotec plus boiler
- 12 port Solerad manifold
- 6 zones
- Zone 1 (Hallway) - 9 sqm on 1 loop
- Zone 2 (Kitchen / Living Room) - 40 sqm on 4 loops
- Zone 3 (Lounge) - 60 sqm on 4 loops
- Zone 4 (Playroom) - 13 sqm on 1 loop
- Zone 5 (Utility) - 3.6 sqm on 1 loop
- Zone 6 (Toilet) - 3.6 sqm on 1 loop
- wilo para 25/7-50/scu pump
- heatmiser actuators
- heatmiser thermostats (neoAir connected to neoHub)
Action Plan:
- bleed the system - connect a hose pipe from a water outlet to the hot drain valve, and a hose pipe to the cold drain valve to fill the loops with water until there is a continuous flow of water with no air bubbles. I will work my way from the furthest flow meter on the hot row of the manifold, opening the flow meter valve to let water through the loop and then closing the flow meter valve once there are no air bubbles.
- correctly configure the Wilo Para pump - abit confused here, what settings should I use for the zones and loops mentioned above?
- set the flow meter valves to 3l/min for all zones / loops
