Afternoon all,
Bit of a puzzling one (for me atleast!). I have a downstairs wall hung WC with concrete floors and a clay pipe sticking up out of the screed by approx 50mm. The pipe only serves the toilet. Recently, since the weather has changed, I have noticed a sewer smell coming from behind the toilet and inside the WC boxing.
Assuming it was a broken seal I removed the toilet and exposed the pipe in the concrete by breaking out a few tiles. I have replaced the original plastic wall hung connections with a new flexi pan connector and a fernco clay/plastic adapter. I rehung the toilet temporarily to check the smell went. However, it hasnt gone. I therefore removed the toilet off the wall again and taped and sealed the clay pipe to be double sure it was sealed, but I can still smell the sewer smell which seems to be lingering inside the boxing.
Theres nothing else inside the boxing and I have checked the manhole outside which appears to be clear and running freely when I flushed.
Any ideas as to what I am missing?
