Hi all

Once I have put down the hardcore for the floor and compacted it, I will put down a layer of sand before the damp proof membrane goes down.

Does this sand need to be compacted?

You can whizz over it with the whacker plate if you want, it will not do any harm, but sand is pretty much self compacting, it will be fine if you simply rake it over.
