Hi everyone,

With the current heatwave in Europe side, my shed is getting absolutely sweltering. The roof is taking a direct hit from the sun, and I’m worried about the heat damaging what's stored inside. Has anyone tried using heavy duty or reflective tarpaulins to shade the roof? Does it actually help keep the temp down, or is there a better way to protect the roof from this extreme heat? Any advice from those who've dealt with this would be great.

As Kplpc says it will be ok as long as you don't store anything that is likely to explode because of expansion. That includes tins of paint bottles of oil or petrol cans etc.. Not sure if leaving the door ajar wil help or not.

Throw a white sheet over it with a brick tied to each corner. And keep the door open

I've got a bulk bag of kindling, a 1ltr plastic bottle of red diesel, a few half tins of paint & some 5ltr oil cartons with about 1ltr in them in my shed.

Hasn't set on fire......yet.

FWIW - no I wasn't trying to be humorous. I actually have those things in mine.
