Shortening bathroom extractor ducting run

We had an inline bathroom extractor fan installed a year or so ago which has made a huge difference to our tiny and very prone to condensation bathroom (although we almost always have window open with showers still, anyway).

I was up in the loft today and noticed that the ducting run the electrician did is a bit mad (see picture). I was wondering whether it would make sense to re-do it. My idea is this:
- Rotate extractor fan and move much closer to the ceiling vent, reducing length of ducting from bathroom ceiling to fan
- Run the fan exit ducting to the right of the picture and out of the gable end wall (would need to drill a hole in the brick, but I have heard about vent kits you can install from the inside such as this one - https://www.screwfix.com/p/manrose-internal-fit-wall-kit-117mm/9514x). The gable end wall is literally just out of picture to the right

This would make the run much shorter and therefore, presumably, the fan more effective. Is there any reason this plan won't work or some other ideas people can suggest?

Just move fan closer to exit to remove any bends, no benifit to be had using gable exit.
