Seems a facetious question but I can't see the answer anywhere - all the faqs presume you're keeping the existing floorboards. I've removed the floorboards in the bedroom I'm converting into a bathroom as they were rotten. I'm going to tile onto Hardibacker or nomoreply but what should I replace the boards with for strength. I'd rather the finished floor was as level as that of the hallway.

Thanks Imarsh.

if your ripping out the floor why would you replace it with 2 different types of underflooring before tiling? just get 25mm ply as your floor then you wont need to add onto it before the tiles are laid.

Thanks for the clear reply - I suppose I'd looked at the websites for both products, they claim to be better than plywood so I'd thought i't'd be better to put plywood then hardiboard.

Ta for the advice.
