Should I Remove hairspray from walls before painting?

Hi all

As per above the hairspray is over a large area on matt emulsion in magnolia, I shall be painting with matt mag emulsion again. I presume this is hairspray anyway, doesn't quite look like mould.

Hairspray is like grease, as such sugar soap the whole area first to get rid of anything and you should be good to go.
