show me how to open & close on remotye control ddvd play

I have a sony dvd player model dvp ns-718h , on the remote control show you to press the button 18 then it will open or close the disc tray , I try but it does'nt work , does any body know how to make it work & can show me the proper way ?

Are you sure you have the correct model number or remote control?

Sony Canada - The DVP-NS718h does not have an Open/Close button on the remote control. See the manual here

It's the same with the European version.

Why use the remote to open the drawer? Surely you use that function to add or remove a disk, which would involve interaction with the player itself?
