Attached are images of my shower drain cover which I have just cleared of the most foul hair blockage ever. I had to disassemble the whole thing. As I am practically bald, I blame my wife and daughter.
What does the arrow on the underside (approximately at 'six o'clock') of the drain mean? Should this point in a specific direction when refitting? Towards the drain pipe perhaps? The cover looks completely symmetrical to my eye, but is this a 'low point's to aid drainage? The arrow is at 'one o'clock', hidden from view on the shiny side image.

Unless there is a corresponding mark or symbol on the base outlet then it can probably be fit in any orientation.
