My shower stopped working last night and when I checked the fuse box it was at the off position, reset it and put it on again but the same thing happened and when I tried to reset the fuse box it sparked at me so I havent touched it since. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Get a call out electrician to review the problem and offer a consult for a fixed visit fee.

Obvious issues could be any of:-

Cable damage
Water in shower unit, where it shouldn't be
Faulty shower cord switch
Faulty MCB/ RCD

It really isn't a job for someone who isn't skilled, mainly due to the prospect of serious danger water v electrical fault- sizzle bang and all that

Well there are 2 options depending on how competent you feel working with electricity. The first is to call an electrician and the second is to be a bit more thorough with your info - consumer unit type (and a picture), what exactly tripped, what is written on the thing that tripped, cable size, fuse size and where the spark came from would be helpful.

If, as it seems from what you have already written the MCB tripped, then that indicate either an earth fault or a short circuit. After isolating the supply have a look inside the consumer unit, shower and shower isolator for any loose cables and be on the look out for burnt/damaged insulation.

I'll take that.

10p on a damaged cable

25p on water leak inside shower

This happened to me. One element had gone to deck.

Cure - new shower. At just over £100 for a new one it's not worth a call-out.

Unless it's not the shower. Why waste £100 on replacing a shower which is more often than not NOT the cause of the problem.

If a shower fails it tends to just stop working. It is unusual for it to put a dead short onto the circuit.

You're right, I should have also said that mine was still under guarantee and i will return it for repair, then i have a spare one.
