Hi

Can any one tell me or point me in the direction of info concerning the siting of the shower unit itself, when installing an electric shower in a bathroom over the bath itself (not in a cubicle).

Are you allowed to do this or does the unit have to be mounted out of the "water area"?

Put simply, an electric shower unit can be installed over a bath, but there are rules concerning:

(1) Notification of the electrical work to the LABC;
(2) Constraint of the position of the shower head such that it doesn't risk back syphonage to the mains.

For (1) see the current Building Regulations, Part P.
For (2) see the current Water Regulations.

The manufacturer's instructions will also be vital reading material.

Hi Softus,

1) yes...the LABC are notified and we are awaiting confirmation.
2) The shower head has a guide rail that fixes it at a higher point than the bath..to stop syphonage I presume

thanks

Ps (it says its IPX4 compliant to....I take it that is reasonably waterproof)
