Shower mixer playing up after thermal store fitted

Have fitted a 350L thermal store (happily sitting at 75 to 80 degrees). Although usually mains fed for DHW this one is fed from two very large header tanks. Before it was fed by a standard indirect cylinder (same header tanks).

So as far as the shower is concerned nothing should have changed. But the shower is running warm rather than hot. The incoming hot pipe of the mixer is very nice and hot so I presume it's just the mixer adding too much cold? But why?

Can I adjust something inside the shower mixer body maybe?

Any ideas?

Is the cold mans fed, if so it could be pushing its way back up to hot feed.

Do you know if there any check valves fitted, if not fit one on the hot supply.

how high above the thermal store are the storage tanks ?are you saying that the storage tanks are suppling the dhw ?

The tanks are supplying the DHW and they are on the third floor of the house, two floors above the shower concerned. Maybe the coil within the thermal store is 15mm and therefore reducing flow rate enough to upset shower?

Incoming chrome nut on shower hot side is scorchio...

Hi, This could be one of several things.
1. Muck in the filters: by playing with the system you may have disloged some muck. Many showers have filters on the inlets.

2. Different pressures between hot and cold. Showers will tolerate a small difference but as was previously said: a cold may push the hot back. This may occur even if the hot is "mains pressure" as I suspect your hot from the thermal store will have been reduced due to a reducing valve. If this is the case then you will need to supply the cold to your shower by picking off a feed after this reducing valve so the pressures match. Many reducing valves have an outlet for just this purpose.

Thanks v much. But surely this would conflict with the hot chrome nut on the hot side? E.g. if cold dominating it would push the hot well into the pipe?

It may be holding the non return shut. modern showers often have them in the inlets aswell as filters. it stops hot water contaminating cold.
