Shower Niche estimate estimate

Hi. I'm in the middle of refurb - and i've asked my builders to add a second niche in the shower. It's 500x150. I've been told it'll take 2 days - as one needs to cut the joist, cut the tiles, etc. Bathroom currently completely stripped down - and current quote inlcudes tiles throughout and the larger niche.

We've just added that extra niche at the bottom and I am being told that will add 2 extra days of work. Does that sound right?

Sounds like they are having a laugh to me. I am assuming you have a stud wall as you mentioned cutting a joist, but possibly mean a timber stud, but it is not that big a job and could easily be formed in a few hours and tiling it would not add that long to the timeframe either. I would be asking for clarity on that as it sounds a bit overstretched to me.

How the hell are they going to. Build a niche so small. In height 150mm?
