Central Heating was working satisfactorily. But Shower, either extreme cold or hot water. After 4 months of moving into my new home. just noticed that feed and expansion doesn't fills up automatically. because tap connection to tank is closed. Just today i turned opened the tap. I am wondering whether it would have caused any damage to the boilermate itself. heating is controlled by boliermate 2000. Please can anyone throw some light on it.

Many Thanks
Bala

If the water level in the store drops below the takeoff for the DHW primary, then your hot water will be stone cold. If the level is borderline, then it might be intermittent, but you haven't said when the problem started or how long it has been going on.

Almost all intermittent DHW temperature problems on this system are caused by a failure in one of the two wet sensors. It can also be caused by scale in the heat exchanger, or even less frequently, a fault on the PCB.

Do you live in a hard water area?

And in case you're tempted to have a go, be very careful if you work on this system, because it stores a large quantity of very hot water. You need to know what you're doing.

Quite possibly. If the water level dropped and the DHW pump was running dry, then its life will have been shortened. The saving grace is that it has an easy life. Also, it doesn't run all the time, only when you draw off hot water. I wouldn't worry about the pump - just leave it until it fails and replace it then.

Thank a lot for the reply.
I knew nothing about these equipments. I want to know what are the implications of running boilermate without feed and expansion tank having any water in it for 4 months. I live in broxburn, scotland. Do i have to call any technician to check it out? or probably as you said leave it until it fails.

Thanks Again for the information.
