Shower Problem

The problem is as follows and concerns a bog standard Triton electric shower.
1.There is no water coming out of the shower when turned on.
2.There is no power light on.
3.The neon ceiling switch is permanently on and pulling the cord makes no difference.
Any help greatly appreciated.

the switch is wired backwards

ie the load is on the supply side
