Hi,

Just fitted a new shower pump (salamander ct55 single positive head).

For some reason when I turn on the tap, water comes out without the pump kicking in, water then disappears for a second, then the pump kicks in.

Used pumps elsewhere in the house before but not had this issue. Any ideas?

Sounds like not enough flow to switch it on.

Or air in the pipe.
Is the pipe all 'uphill' to the tap - at least until any air is pushed out?

I have ran the tap without the pump for at least 10mins so I assumed that would be enough to get rid of any air?

The pump is under the tank and the tap is 1.5m below that so didn't think flow would be an issue.

The only rise is a bend 20cm to get the pipe from level into the hose feed.

I also fitted a non return value. Could it be that?

Mmmm.

Are the other pumps supplied from the same supply?

Could there be a restriction in the supply? For example, a gate valve that is old and not opening properly.

The hot water pressure in general is poor.

I never thought it could be a gate valve. They all look OK externally

Sorry guys wasnt being flippent, just a little drunk.

Salamander do not like nrv`s being fitted.
