Shower Pump Problem?

Hi,
I've fitted a new shower pump today (Stuart Turner 2.5 Positive head). The pump works well with the cheapo shower we have at the moment.

The possible problem is that the pump momentarily starts up when a hot tap is turned off elsewhere in the house!

Is there a particular reason why this would happen?

Is damage likely to occur due to this?

Cheers for looking,

Nick.

Is there a 'dead leg' between the pump and your shower?

If when fitting your pump, it was tee'd off from the pipe that supplies the hot water then you will get this problem.
Pumps should have there own seperate supply for a shower hence why Andy is asking if you have a Surrey Flange out the top of your tank.
I have some photos of my set up if that helps.

Yes, the hot supply from the cylinder is teed off to the pump.

The momentary start up has not happened today!
After reading about separate supplies to pumps, I realise that it would be ideal to fit a surrey flange but will I be causing damage if I don't and could the "pulsing pump" have been due to air in the system due to the drain down?

I appreciate all your advice.

Nick.

Sorry Iddy, what's a dead leg?

The Surrey flange is designed to reduce the air going in to the pump.
Too much air in to your pump can damage it and void the warranty.
