Hello

Thanks to the forum I fitted my shower pump yesterday. I believe it went quite well.

My only slight concern and I'm probably being premature here. I fitted a Surrey flange. Of course when I was taking out the old flange etc there was quite a bit of water and I had to syphon off the first few inches of the cylinder etc etc. But there was quite a bit of spillage, I spose the amount one would expect on a job like that.

When I checked the cylinder cupboard this morning all the moisture had evaporated as I expected. However, the foam/insulation around/below the surrey flange was still damp. I did give the threads of the cylinder a couple wraps of PTFE before fitting the surrey flange. There's no obvious leak coming from the area of the flange. I'm hoping that I'm concerned over nothing. But I would have thought all the moisture wold have evaporated this morning.

Any advise will be appreciated

Mick

Surreys are a pain because you have to stop when they point in the right direction. So you need a LOT of PTFE or they leak. A botchy solution is to add LS-X to the thread, on top of the ptfe, before you screw it in.
Loctite 155 would probably be better, but the torque could damage the tank.
That's why I keep banging on about Warix flanges.
The art of plumbing is to be able to forsee the problems and take steps to increase the chance of success!
