I had a Saniflo shower pump fitted about 2 years ago. I think it is begining to get clogged up and would like to flush through the pump to clean it up. I'm aware I have to be careful with what I flush through the system. Any ideas?
Thanks

Just a minute Herts this pump is only 2 years old!
These things are expensive. Surely it could be unclogged?
I wouldn't like to be buying one every 2 years!

Just make sure you wear at least 3 pairs of latex gloves.

I was working on a job once when the customer called in a saniflo engineer to repair her faulty system, he used a wet vac to 'suck' out all of the debris, it went in the wet vac and came out the other side, all over her bedding.

It wasn't a pretty site, $h1it every where.

Well yes perhaps one would shrink from meddling with a pump which was pumping Sh...t. but this is only a shower pump.

In that case, fill the tray with water and use a wet vac, pushing air through the pump. That should give it a clear out.

Just one other point One the main problems here is hair. If her indoors is washing her hair in the shower that could be the main reason for clogging.
I would always use one of those little stainless filters which slip into the drain. Works wonders.
I let out a couple of houses and you would not believe the amount of hair which I have had to remove from the bath trap. Great lumps of it enough to make a wig. Yuuuk!

Buy a new one, very horrible to take these monstrosities apart!!
Assuming this is a Sanivite, I agree they aren't the easiest things to get to bits, but not that bad. I've repaired a couple - usually go fairly cheap on eBay when they don't work, and if you understand the basic electrics, fairly simple to fix.

Can't see that they'd clog up internally though - more likely to be the pipework I'd have thought, and especially the flap valve where the water enters.
Would a good old fashioned plunger not help ?
