I decided to clean the shower as a) it needs it and b) the grout was beginning to turn black... plus it went all limescaley on the floor

any suggestions what i can use on this other than bleach...

thanks..

cillitbang is good for limesacle, not sure if you should use it on a floor, it may eat tiles

With all the problems we had with leaking grout causing costly ceiling damage (admittedly after 40 years) and a shower retile, what is the definitive, safe solution to use to clean/ maintain tiles and grout?
I keep reading contradictory ways to best do this. Some say use a baking powder solution, some say add vinegar whereas others say avoid acidic cleaners (vinegar). Proprietary scale removers must surely be acidic. I am thinking of protecting the grout mostly, as the tiles themselves are pretty impervious. I realise that limescale is alkaline and (as far as recall my chemistry), only acidity will dissolve it.

The solution, don't wait for it to start to turn black. Clean tiles, grout, sealant, tray etc weekly as part of a normal routine. Yes. you will need to scrub all of the above rather than just a wipe but, you won't need to use anything harsher than normal bathroom cleaner. If you've started getting stubborn limescale streaks then use viacal or similar. Give it 5 mins or so and then 'scrub' off as previous. When I say scrub, I mean with a cloth and NOT with a scourer.
