shower unit

I had a new shower fitted about 8 months ago , granted not the straightest thing on the wall but worked great till now.
I've always had a shower so have'nt been expecting a problem.
First thing i noticed when i switched it off was the switch felt warm and when i tried to put it on again nothing happened , just had the switch replaced and that seems ok but light on shower is dim and there is nothing coming out of it , anybody any ideas please

Probably a bad connection in the switch. Perhaps the screw terminal on to the insulation of one or more conductors instead of the copper causing a high resistance joint. Check these first make sure they are all tight and make sure power is off at fuse board first.

Who replace the switch?

It was just the 45amp switch on the wall that was replaced , but now there is just a dim light on shower unit , would replacing the 32amp in the mains board make a difference ?

Replacing the MCB should make no difference as it sounds like the fault is at the isolator. But I would also check that connections are tight within the shower unit also, isolate before taking covers off, then prove the circuit is dead using approved testing equipment!
A few questions:
Output of shower?
Cable size?
Do you have any documentation/certificates for when shower was fitted?

What I was suggesting is that it would have been tested ok if done by a spark.

If you, a mate or some diyer did it, check and make sure the terminations are in correctly and in the right place, supply is from the fuse board, load is to the shower. L means live and would be brown if new colour code, red if old. N means Neutral, blue is new colour code, black old.

sorry did'nt mean to upset anyone , i wouldnt let anyone touch the main electrics , it was just replacing a socket on the wall to eliminate that possibility , now i need an electrician to check things out i know

Thanks you were correct the wiring in the back of the socket wasnt tight enough , lesson learnt
sorted now and working again

Bless, was it a re tighten up or did you wire it wrong? (At least it works now, be weary of any more issues).

As for socket, in Scouse that's a shower switch (I hope)
