Shower Waste Leaking

My shower waste is leaking somewhere around the trap. I have had a look and noticed that the pipe which connects into the trap has a large displacement at the socket with a blue band visible. Is this normal or does it suggest that there has been movement at the socket?

Wont be able to tell anything from there, nor will you be able to fix it. Judging by the amount of silicone plastered on, someone's already trid to seal it up?

Blue plastic 'O ring' should be after the rubber seal, and before the nut, suspect that was never put together properly in the first place. I think you're going to have to redo the waste, looking at the state of that, your only option really to do it properly is to remove the old waste, clean everything up, and fit new.
