Hope someone can assist me.
We've noticed for a while the back is taking a while to empty.
On Saturday I noticed a dripping noise coming from the pipe housing after I'd finished a shower. I took out the housing and noticed that where the waste pipe conected to the soil pipe (very old style larger pipe) there was a leak. I also noticed the the waste pipe between the trap & the soil pipe was flowing uphill (around 2 to 3 degrees).
Since then I have extended the legs on the bath tub (the the highest possible) to raise the bath so the waste pipe flows downhill. This has almost made the waste pipe level, but still not flowing downhill. I plan to insert a couple of planks of wood under the bath foor rests in order to raise it a lttle further to give me a drop.
Regarding the leak, The leak appeared to happen to due old Mait wearing away, and as the waste pipe was flowing uphill with very little pressure, once the waste water had left the waste pipe into the soil pipe it actually started to flow back down the soil pipe causing the drip (the waste pipe was a good bit smaller than the soil pipe).
I have bought a new trap (with all bath fittings, over flow etc)(as old one was horrible) and fitted this, but my issue now is how to connect the new waste pipe to the soil pipe? As the soil pipe is old style i'm really not sure, I have some plumbers mait, would it be as simple as connecting the largest possible pipe that'll connect to my trap (40mm) and using Mait seal this up at the soil pipe join?
Thanks
