We have a concrete side passage which was recently channeled out so that a waste pipe could be laid for a new cloakroom facility. The channeled out section has been filled in with soil/hardcore/sand mix but we now want to refinish the entire area and are thinking of a thin concrete screed across the whole area.

Can you advise what is the best approach to this, would you use a pure concrete mix for this and also would you need to pre-coat the area with PVA to ensure adhesion?

Many thanks for any advice

Mix up some concrete using smaller stone hardcore than usual, and repack the cleaned out area around the pipe, Now ensure all is well with the pipe itself, once concreted in it becomes almost inaccessible.
Now you have to make a choice...which screed medium to use.
Anything about 50mm, will allow for a basic sand/cement screed, but a waterproofing solution added will enhance it, if it's external. You can of course opt for an epoxy screed, depends on final use, sand cement for basic pedestrian traffic...pinenot
:)
