Hi guys.
Could you please advice me on what is the best practice when putting silicon sealant round a bath? Would you put it 45 degrees or 90 degrees between tiles and bath? Also would you use masking tape or would you wipe off the excess with a damp cloth?Thank you 4 your time.

It's silicone, very different from silicon. Best thing to do is use something else.

we all cant be clever and get all our spellng right the world hates smarties it is a diy forum not a spelling test . Anyway make sure all is clean and dry fill bath with water apply at 45 degrees not too heavy with the gun then when applied spray with mild soapy water and with ones finger remove excess being carefull not to get it every where . Its all about practice

You can buy some pretty good tools for smoothing the stuff off these days. A credit card corner isn't bad!

Most silicone sealants go black eventually. I'd use the one which claims to stay white particularly long - forgotten its name but it's everywhere.
Otherwise, Dow Corning Sanitary sealer.

... and you can buy impregnated tissues from builder's merchants that remove allsorts of dirt and specify silicone as one of those dirts (for the excess)

fairy liquid, put sum on ur finger then wipe of excess silicone

I have always used my finger to smooth it off and then wiped my finger on a tissue to clean it off afterwards.

I did once try wetting the surface but did not think much of the result!

Has anyone tried food grade silicone, I have been informed that its better than sanitary type? Trouble is the price, a lot dearer

 I thought you were suppose to wipe hands on work wear, now I know why wife goes mad
