Hi - I've recently had new windows fitted and the whole house re-rendered. Where the render meets the window frame, should this also be sealed with a bead of silicone sealant?

I just wanted to check before I ask my builder

Thanks, Nick

Yes. You might want to explore alternatives, because a lot of silicones will crack with movement, and you don't want air infiltration.

E.g. polymer based sealants . Whatever you choose it should be expensive - this is an external part of your building fabric so don't skimp.

Foam is there are larger gaps using low expansion, a gun and thin bead, then seal over top.

Needs a nice mitred bead to encourage drainage.
