ok, painted the bedroom and hallway matt. overall happy with the finish apart from one thing... i have a dog! very quickly discovered matt doesn't like to be wiped!

ran out of paint so decided next hallway will be in silk which can be wiped.

clearly with the silk it isn't as forgiving as the matt... i can see a patchy bit.

comparing the 2 i think i prefer the matt... but now i have such an element of doubt i don't know what to continue in!!

which do you prefer?

also, if i wanted to paint over the silk would i just be able to paint straight over or would i have to prepare it in some ways. i used either crown or dulux emusion silk... just the standard stuff!

Use a durable matt, most paint companies do them, i use Johnstones and little green intellimatt. Silk needs a very hard rub down before coating with matt
