ok, just looking for someone to confirm this, my old central heating/hot water timer broke and ive purchased a new one with digital display. the wiring is labeled the same, ie live/neutral, ch on, ch off, hw on, hw off so hopefully i can just swap over, howver when i removed the old one, i have no connection to 'central heating off', im presuming there is either a common being used or something from the thermostat maybe? shall i just connect the new one without the 'central heating off' wire aswell?

also the new timer says i should bleed the system, is a total bleed necessary?

If there was nothing connected before then you can ignore that.

there is no need to bleed the system if you have not drained it.
