Hi, we have an Alpha CB24 combi in a 3 bed semi plumbed to 9 rads on a single pipe system. The trouble is that in order to get any real heat from the rads downstairs we have to turn up the stat on the boiler front to full. What I don't understand is that the rads upstairs work perfectly well with it on a medium setting.

Why don't the rads downstairs perform the same?

Is there anything I can do?

I don't mind plumbing myself, just not sure what to do!

Any help greatly appreciated, cheers Ben

Turn off the good rads and see if the bad ones heat up.
If they do the system could require balancing.

I don't see how that can be considered to be good advice!

If he turns off any rad it is likely to turn them all off!

OP Has the system ever worked properly?

Have any changes been made recently?

Which type of one pipe system do you have ? Are the radiators t, d off the pipe or does the pipe connect through the radiators only.

If the former balancing the system should help, but the later the radiator on the system the colder it will be. Re piping would be good, but it's usually possible to get it working fairly well.
If tbe latter, you really would be better getting it repiped into a twin pipe system.
