I've been told I have a single pipe heating system and if I put thermostatic valves onto the the radiators this will stop the flow of my heating.

Firstly is this correct and how do I save energy without them?
Thanks

if the rads don't have a bypass or balancing valve under each radiator then you can't have trv's. Save up and get a twin pipe system when you change the boiler. Look at loft and cavity wall insulation as a low cost way of reducing bills until then (grants are available)
