A question to the electricians here. When wiring, using singles in conduit, is it common practice to use a reduced size cpc similar to the sizes in t&e, or is it more normal to use the same size as the live conductors? I realise that Zs has a bearing on this but I wonder if there are other considerations that I'm not aware of?

You'd have to work it out using the adiabatic equation, making sure you select a k value for cables in conduit rather than in a PVC/PVC cable.

Convention tends to be to use the same sized CPC as the live conductors.

most people can't be bothered to use the adiabatic so they use table 54.7 on page 130 of the regs which says that you must use the same size CPC as the line conductor up to 16mm²

OK, thanks guys, that points me in the right direction.
