Siphon internal overflow

i have fitted a new siphon but the toilet still overflows via stand pipe.Am I right in thinking I need to remove the stand pipe and replace with blanking plug(22mm).I assume the water will then escape through the siphon(Epson).

Can anyone confirm this is right,and if not what alternative action to take?Thanks in anticipation.

Set the valve so it doesn't get to the overflow?

or

If the new syphon has an internal overflow then you can get a blanking plug for the cistern and remove the old one

You could just leave it alone if you wish, ie with two overflows
