Hi Guys,

Just wondering what the retrictions are for the placement of a new boiler?

My Father in law is thinking of having his E7 ripped out and putting rads in, the only problem is that due to the design of his kitched the only real place to fit the boiler would be above a gas hob, is this legal? The wall in question is an outside wall so the flue and condensate can go straight out.

The other option would be to put it in the airing cupboard, the only problem is this is in the middle of the house, whats the procedure there, assume the flue would go into loft, but what about the condensate?

And before all you Corgi guys state the obvious, we would be getting a Corgi to supply and fit the boiler, just looking at the options before hand!

Look forward to your thoughts.

Cheers guys

over the hob is not an option, airing cupboard is ok vertical flue through roof condensate taken to nearest drain (bathroom maybe) or use a condensate pump if route is a problem

As above, I've seen the result of a combi installed over a gas cooker. Chip pan caught fire and took out the boiler

Needless to say it was fitted by one of the most notorious local cowboy's around here

As he is having E7 taken out, look for an installer who is registered on the A1 scheme through Plumb Center.

Big grants available for having storage heaters taken out. Between £275 and £1500, depending on his circumstances.
