size of mcb for cooker

i've noticed that my built-in cooker is wired to a 50amp mcb in the c/u.i think the suggested size for it is 20amp.what effect if any will this have on the circuit protection
 
Provided the cable is thick enough, i.e. 10mm² or greater, then it will be OK.
 
when you say too much is better.does that mean the higher rated the mcb, the better the protection
 
no, the breaker must be rated lower than the cable.


if the cooker only needs 20A, then downrate MCB to 20A
 
If the Fuse or Breaker is far too high for the appliance, your appliance will not be protected adequately. As suggested, swap out the breaker for a B20 amp one, and you should be safer.
