Is it possible to re-skim existing old plasterwork to try and get rid of defects and give a smooth finish again? Or is a complete re-plaster necessary?
Id say a complete re plaster job...otherwise you may end up with loads of edges and different surfaces on the wall which will then need filling and lining...talking of which...have you considered lining...or even double lining the wall?
well i've basically stripped off all the wallpaper and the plaster underneath is a little uneven in places and too rough to achieve a good paint finish. I dont want to put lining paper on as there has been minor damp problems and i want to let the wall breathe rather than cover it in paper...
