Skirting Boards and Laminate

Hello everyone,

Hope someone out there can help with this query. I have just had laminate flooring put down along with new skirting boards. The boards require staining to compliment the floor.

What is the best way to paint the boards bearing in mind there is no gap between the boards and the floor to insert cardboard etc. for protection while applying the stain?

Is masking tape my only answer?

I think so, masking tape with newspaper to stop any paint splash back.

ive found the rolls of masking tape that come with about 150mm of polythene attached to them bloody marvellous for painting skirtings. you can get it from places like screwfix and its easy to use

who needs tape.just lay off the beer for one night and use a steady hand
