    Say the rafter length is 5m, the board behind the fascia board is 3/4 ply with fiscia is normal thickness. What would the headlap and batten guage I need. Slates 600x300mm .

    It depends on the pitch of the roof and if they are natural or man made slates.

    As above,head lap depends on roof pitch, head lap then governs gauge

    The formula for battening is length of slate minus headlap divided by 2.
